Chapter 71 - The Sirens
The mansion erupted into chaos. Deafening sirens wailed from the roof, cutting through the thunderstorm. Red strobe lights flashed in every hallway.
Daniel cursed violently. He swung the butt of his heavy rifle, striking Rosa hard across the temple. The old woman collapsed to the floor, unconscious but breathing.
Daniel didn't waste time finishing her off. He sprinted down the hallway, following the layout toward the reinforced panic room.
Inside the room, Elena heard the sirens and Rosa’s heavy fall. Tears streamed down her face as she aimed her pistol at the steel door, placing herself directly between the entrance and Mateo’s cot.
"Mommy? What is that noise?" Mateo cried, covering his ears.
"Hide under the bed, Mateo. Do not come out no matter what you hear," Elena commanded, her voice fierce and unyielding.
A heavy, metallic bang echoed against the steel door.

"Elena!" Daniel’s muffled, psychotic scream bled through the reinforced metal. "Open the door! You can't hide forever!"
"Go to hell, Daniel!" she screamed back, her finger tightening on the trigger.
