Chapter 13 - The Ultimate Shock
A terrifying silence enveloped the space after the shadows of the demonic mother and son disappeared. Elena looked down at Rosa in panic. Their time was now measured in seconds before Daniel broke into the ninth-floor apartment.
"Rosa! They are coming down here! Tell me, please! What is going on?"
Rosa coughed dryly, her breath growing very weak. She used her last bit of strength to cling to Elena's legs.
"The true heir... the master's swapped biological son... he had a son before he disappeared."
Elena didn't understand. Why was Rosa bringing him up?
"Who? What does that have to do with me?"
Rosa slowly directed her sad, deeply compassionate gaze toward Elena's protruding belly.
"That person... is the biological father of the baby in your womb."
A wave of nausea churned in Elena's stomach. Her head spun as if someone had hit it hard with a hammer. Rosa's words shattered her entire perception of reality.
"What nonsense are you talking about? Daniel is my husband! He is the only man I've ever been with! He is the father of this baby!"
"That is only what you think, my poor, sweet Elena..."
"I have never had relations with any other man! You are insulting me!"

Rosa slowly shook her head, tears streaming across her wrinkles.
"Think back. A few months before the wedding... you were in a car accident. You suffered a trauma and were unconscious for days in the intensive care unit. Do you remember?"
