Chapter 56 - The Infiltration

At midnight, Alejandro navigated the treacherous, humid jungle. He found the rusted iron grate hidden beneath thick vines, exactly where Hector had described.
He pried it open and slipped into the darkness. The tunnel smelled of damp earth and decay. He moved silently, using night-vision goggles to navigate the narrow passage.
Above him, he could hear the heavy boots of patrolling guards and the barking of dogs. He reached a heavy wooden trapdoor. He waited patiently, listening to the footsteps in the room above. When the room was clear, he pushed the door open, stepping into Vargas's opulent wine cellar.
He moved like a ghost through the hacienda. He bypassed the security cameras by splicing into the main feed with a localized looping device. He ascended the spiral staircase, arriving at the heavy oak doors of Vargas's private office.
He didn't kick the door down. He opened it slowly, silently stepping inside.

Vargas, a heavyset man with a thick mustache and cruel eyes, was sitting behind his desk, counting stacks of cash.
"You should invest in better security, Vargas," Alejandro said smoothly.
