Chapter 60 - A Legacy Secured

Five years later.

The Valdés estate was bathed in warm summer sunlight. The dark, oppressive history of the mansion had been completely overwritten by laughter and light.

Mateo, now five years old, was running across the manicured lawns, chasing a golden retriever puppy they had adopted for his birthday. Rosa sat on a shaded bench, sipping lemonade and smiling as she watched the boy play.

Elena stood on the reinforced balcony of the master suite, leaning against the railing. She watched her son tackle the puppy into the grass, both of them rolling around in pure, unadulterated joy.

Alejandro stepped out onto the balcony, wrapping his arms around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. He rested his chin on her shoulder, exactly as he had done years ago.

"He’s getting faster," Alejandro noted with a smile.

"He has your energy," Elena laughed, leaning her head back against him.

They stood in comfortable, profound silence. There were no more threats. There were no more shadows lurking at the edge of the property. They had fought through hell, from abusive marriages to cartel wars, and they had conquered it all.

"We built a beautiful life, Alejandro," Elena whispered, looking down at their son.

"Yes, we did, mi amor," he agreed, turning her around to kiss her deeply under the warm sun. "And it belongs entirely to us."
