Chapter 67 - The Forgotten Tunnel
Daniel did not try to breach the heavily guarded front gates. He knew about the cameras, the motion sensors, and the armed patrols. But he also knew a secret that Alejandro, who had only moved into the mansion as an adult, did not.
During the Prohibition era, the original Valdés patriarch had built a subterranean smuggling tunnel that led from the coastal cliffs directly into the mansion's original wine cellar. It was bricked off and removed from the official blueprints decades ago.
Daniel navigated the rocky cliffs in the pitch black, ignoring the freezing waves crashing below. He found the old, rusted iron grate concealed behind a thick curtain of overgrown ivy.
Using a blowtorch from his duffel bag, he melted the heavy iron locks.

He slipped into the damp, dark tunnel, the smell of ancient earth and mold filling his lungs. He walked for twenty minutes beneath the estate, completely bypassing the million-dollar security grid on the surface.
He reached the bricked-off wall at the end of the tunnel. Using a small, shaped breaching charge he had procured from his cache, he blew a hole straight into the mansion’s lower levels.
