The Grandfather's Will
Three days later, the hospital room became a makeshift boardroom. The chief executor of the Valdés estate, an elderly, stern lawyer named Mr. Sterling, arrived with a heavy leather briefcase.
Alejandro stood by the window, while Elena sat up in bed, looking much stronger.
"The arrest of Daniel and Beatriz has triggered the emergency clauses in the late Lord Valdés's testament," Mr. Sterling announced, adjusting his glasses.
He pulled out a sealed document.
"Your grandfather, Alejandro, left a private addendum to be opened only in the event of Beatriz's criminal indictment. He knew."
Alejandro turned around, stunned. "He knew I was alive?"
"He suspected the swap, but he lacked the physical proof until his final days," Mr. Sterling explained. "He hired private investigators to track you in Mexico. He watched you build your logistics empire from afar. He was incredibly proud of you, Alejandro."
The lawyer handed Alejandro a handwritten letter.

"By the terms of the true will, Daniel is completely disinherited. The entire Valdés estate, the companies, and the properties now legally belong to you, the rightful firstborn heir."
Alejandro stared at the letter, the weight of thirty-five years of exile finally lifting from his shoulders. He looked at Elena, the mother of the next generation. The empire was finally in the right hands.
