Chapter 12 - The Child of True Blood

Elena tried to piece the fragmented clues together in her head. She grimaced as the pain in her biceps threatened to tear her muscles apart, but her mind struggled to comprehend this insane story.
"So... he wanted to kill my baby to avoid a DNA test? Just to protect that fortune?"
That cruelty made Elena nauseous. But Rosa shook her head, a complex, indescribable glint flashing in her eyes.
"That's not all, Elena. The issue isn't just avoiding a test."
The old woman looked up, glaring fiercely at Beatriz's trembling, furious figure above.
"The problem is... the child in your womb... is actually the true flesh and blood of the Valdés family! He is the true heir!"
Elena widened her eyes, forgetting the agonizing pain torturing her. She muttered in utter confusion.
"How... how could that be possible? If Daniel isn't their biological son, then how could my baby carry Valdés blood? I've never slept with anyone else!"
Rosa hesitated. The next part of the story was too cruel for a woman to hear. Seeing Rosa waver, Daniel on the rooftop could no longer maintain his composure. He discarded his cold facade, spun around, and dashed like a madman toward the iron door leading to the stairs. Beatriz frantically ran after him, her heels clicking loudly against the concrete floor.

"Hurry up, Daniel! They are at the ninth-floor balcony! If someone downstairs spots them, everything is ruined!"
Elena heard their rapid footsteps fading behind the iron door. They were rushing down to the lower floors. They wanted to personally finish her off before anyone could intervene.
