Chapter 18 - Cruelty Reigns
Daniel stormed straight into the living room like a tornado. Beatriz ran in frantically behind him, panting heavily. The male neighbor, the husband of the woman on the balcony, bravely grabbed a stool, intending to block his path.
But Daniel didn't blink. He swung his fist, landing a devastating blow to the man's face, sending him collapsing unconscious onto the floor.
The woman on the balcony let go of one of Elena's hands, turning around to scream in horror as she saw her husband fall in a pool of blood.
"You animal! Stay away from us! The police are on their way!"
Daniel stepped out onto the balcony, the night wind whipping his hair. He raised the sharp knife high, the blade pointed straight at the neighbor's hands that were holding Elena.
"Get inside, unless you want to lose a hand. And let her go."
The woman trembled, but driven by absolute terror, she was forced to step back. The full weight once again dropped entirely onto Elena's bleeding hands. She gritted her teeth, slipping further down. Daniel leaned over, looking directly into Rosa's eyes as she dangled below.
"Let go, Rosa. You've lived long enough."
Elena clung tightly to the railing, using her dying strength to scream in the face of her fake husband.
"Daniel! Tell me! Who is the father of this baby?! What did you do to me in that hospital?!"

"The true biological father of the baby is..."
