Chapter 48 - The Traitor Revealed


Alejandro left the safe house heavily armed, driving back to the city with a team of his most trusted men. He called an emergency meeting of the Valdés company board of directors.
The executives sat around the long mahogany table, nervous and whispering about the gala attack. Alejandro walked in, locking the heavy doors behind him. He did not sit down.
"Someone in this room provided the security schematics to Vargas," Alejandro stated, his voice deadly calm.
The room erupted in indignant protests, but Alejandro slammed a heavy file onto the table.
"I traced the offshore accounts. Five million dollars was wired into a shell company in the Caymans yesterday morning. The company belongs to the brother-in-law of our Chief Financial Officer."
All eyes slowly turned to Marcus, a silver-haired executive who had been a loyalist to Daniel before Alejandro took over. Marcus turned pale, sweating profusely.
"Alejandro, please, you don't understand," Marcus stammered, standing up. "Vargas threatened my family. He said if I didn't give him the codes, he would kill my daughters."
