Chapter 34

The Trial - Part Two
The final nail in the coffin was Elena's testimony.
She walked to the stand, keeping her head held high, refusing to look away from Daniel. He sat at the defense table, his arm still in a cast, looking pathetic and small.
Elena recounted every chilling detail of the night. The push, the desperate grip on the clothesline, the agonizing pain of the fall, and the horrifying realization that her husband wanted to murder their unborn child for a trust fund.
"Did the defendant, Daniel Valdés, show any remorse when you begged for your life?" the prosecutor asked.
"None," Elena replied, her voice echoing clearly through the microphone. "He looked at me with complete emptiness. He told me the baby had to die."
Daniel suddenly snapped. The humiliation of being exposed as a sterile, fake heir broke whatever restraint he had left.
"You were nothing but a vessel!" Daniel screamed in the middle of the quiet courtroom, straining against the guards holding him down. "You belonged to me! I made you!"
The judge banged his gavel furiously.

"Order! Remove the defendant immediately!"
As Daniel was dragged out, kicking and screaming, Elena looked over at the gallery. Alejandro was standing there, giving her a slow, proud nod. The battle was won.
