Chapter 70 - Rosa's Stand
"I will trigger the manual master alarm in the hallway," Rosa said, moving toward the steel door. "It connects directly to the police and sounds the exterior sirens."
"No, Rosa, it's too dangerous!" Elena protested, grabbing her arm.
"He wants the boy, Elena. If the sirens go off, Alejandro will hear them. The guards will rush the house. It's the only way."
Before Elena could stop her, Rosa punched the release code. The heavy steel door cracked open just enough for the old woman to slip out into the dark corridor, sealing it shut behind her.
Rosa moved quietly down the carpeted hall. She reached the glass encasement of the master alarm.
As she lifted her hand to smash the glass, a cold, familiar voice echoed from the shadows.
"You always were too loyal for your own good, Rosa."
Daniel stepped out of the darkness, his weapon aimed at her chest. He looked horrific—gaunt, pale, and entirely devoid of humanity.
Rosa didn't beg. She looked at the boy she had once raised, feeling nothing but pity.

With a sudden, violent swing, Rosa smashed the fire poker into the glass alarm panel, pulling the heavy red lever.
