Chapter 63 - The Lockdown

Alejandro didn't wait to say goodbye to the hosts. He grabbed Elena’s hand, pulling her toward the private exit with an urgency she had not felt in five years.
"Alejandro, what is wrong?" she asked as they hurried into the back of their armored SUV.
"Daniel escaped," he said, his voice hard and flat. "Drive. Now."
The driver slammed his foot on the gas, the heavy vehicle tearing through the city streets. Elena felt all the air leave her lungs. The nightmare they thought was permanently buried had just crawled out of its grave.
"He's coming for us," Elena whispered, her hands shaking as she pulled out her phone to check the estate's live camera feeds.
"He is coming for the estate," Alejandro corrected, racking the slide of a pistol he kept in the vehicle's hidden compartment. "He knows the layout. He grew up there. But I have spent the last five years making sure it is a fortress."

Alejandro dialed the head of his private security.
"Initiate absolute lockdown. Nobody enters the gates. Wake Rosa and take Mateo to the primary panic room. I want snipers on the roof, now."
