Chapter 80

Absolute Freedom
Five years later.
The ocean waves gently lapped against the white sand. The late afternoon sun painted the horizon in brilliant shades of red, creating a magnificent and peaceful scene.
Maya, now an energetic five-year-old girl, was running along the water's edge, her crisp laughter echoing in the air. Daniel chased after her, pretending to be a giant sea monster trying to catch her tiny bare feet.
I sat on the balcony of the wooden house, holding a warm cup of tea, quietly watching them.
There were no more shadows lurking behind the pine trees. The Organization was nothing but a forgotten myth. The black book was dust and ash.
Daniel hoisted Maya onto his shoulders, and father and daughter turned toward the balcony, waving at me.
"Mommy! Come down and play with us!" Maya cheered.
I smiled, set down my teacup, and walked down the wooden stairs. As I ran over to them, Daniel wrapped one arm around my waist, using the other to hold our daughter securely on his shoulders.

"Everything," Daniel whispered softly, echoing the words spoken on the balcony years ago, his eyes brimming with love and serenity, "is exactly where it belongs."
I rested my head against his chest, listening to his steady, peaceful heartbeat. We were truly free.
