Chapter 22 - The Fall of the Matriarch
While Richard engaged Daniel, Claire ordered her two enforcers to rush the stairs to get to me.
Caleb opened fire from the living room, taking down one of the enforcers, but the second one managed to reach the bottom of the staircase.
I didn't panic. I remembered every single lesson Daniel had taught me.
I aimed the heavy revolver and pulled the trigger. The recoil bruised my wrist, but the bullet caught the enforcer directly in the shoulder, sending him tumbling backward down the wooden stairs.
Claire sneered in disgust and pulled a sleek, silver pistol from her trench coat, aiming it up at me.
"If you want something done right,"
Claire hissed, preparing to fire.
Before she could pull the trigger, Caleb lunged from the shadows, tackling Claire violently to the floor. The silver pistol skittered across the hardwood.

Caleb roared, striking her across the jaw and completely knocking her unconscious.
