Daniel leaned against the wall, gasping for air, rubbing his bruised throat.
I sprinted down the stairs, ignoring the unconscious bodies, and threw myself into Daniel's arms.
"I've got you,"
Daniel coughed, wrapping his arms fiercely around me.
"It's over. It's completely over."
Caleb stood up from where he had bound Claire’s hands with zip-ties.
"Daniel,"
Caleb said, looking at the carnage in the house.

"I call my contacts at the federal bureau. We have a live, highly-wanted fugitive in Claire Whitlock, and the bodies of a mercenary hit squad. They will handle the cleanup. We are the victims of a home invasion."
