Chapter 54 - Leaving the Sanctuary

We didn't argue further. Daniel knew that when I had made up my mind, nothing could change it. We reloaded our weapons, donned our tactical gear, and stepped into the armored SUV hidden in the garage.

The drive to St. Jude Harbor was eerily quiet. The ocean breeze blew hard, bringing thick fog from the sea inland. I opened my laptop on my lap, trying to hack into the harbor’s security cameras.

"Pier #4 has been abandoned for five years," I reported, eyes glued to the screen. "All the cameras there are dead. We’re heading into a total blackout zone."

"That’s Kael’s style," Daniel said, his eyes locked on the foggy road. "He loves to control the darkness."

"I’ll take position on the tower crane in loading area #3," I pointed to the digital map. "It gives me a full view of Pier #4. I’ll provide sniper cover for you."

The car stopped a mile from the port. We stepped out, melting into the fog. The real battle was about to begin.
