Chapter 67

Kael's Key

"Daniel," I called out, my voice carrying a familiar wariness.
He came down the stairs and saw the object in my hand. It was a titanium alloy safety key, engraved with a sequence of numbers and the emblem of an underground Swiss bank.
"The base of the chess piece was hollow," I explained.
Daniel took the key, his expression instantly tensing.
"This is the key to Kael's personal safe in Zurich. He once told me that if anything ever happened to him, all of the Organization's most brutal secrets would be buried there."

"Why would he send it to you along with a challenge?" I frowned.
"Out of arrogance. Kael always believed he would win, and this key was just part of his psychological game. Or..." Daniel hesitated. "He wanted me to inherit his legacy if I was the victor."
