The Final Transaction

Outside the gap, the sound of rushing footsteps echoed. The underground bank's armed security team had been deployed.

"Drop your weapons and step outside!" a harsh voice commanded.

Daniel didn't answer. He fired two warning shots through the gap, embedding bullets into the marble wall to hold them back.

"Almost there!" I shouted. The computer screen showed the progress bar hitting 98%. I didn't transfer the money into our accounts; I routed it to thousands of international charities, hospitals, and anti-human trafficking organizations worldwide. An irreversible dispersion.

"100%!" I slammed the Enter key. "Done! Pull out!"

I yanked out the hard drive, threw it on the floor, and crushed it to pieces with the heel of my boot. All the financial evidence was destroyed.

"Fall back!" Daniel ordered, tossing a small smoke grenade out into the hallway.

Using the thick white smoke as cover, we sprinted out of the vault room, utilizing an emergency exit meant exclusively for technical staff that I had previously hacked from the digital map system.
