Chapter 56 - The Reunion

Daniel stood unperturbed by the blinding lights, his weapon ready, his eyes locked on the control room balcony.
"Hiding in a steel box isn't your style, Kael!" Daniel roared.
A raspy laugh echoed through the shipyard. The steel door of the control room opened. A tall, thin man with salt-and-pepper hair stepped onto the balcony. He wore a long leather coat and held a silver-plated pistol. It was Kael.
"You disappointed me, Daniel," Kael said, his voice echoing. "I turned you into the perfect blade—a weapon without feelings, without weaknesses. And now, you’ve thrown it all away for a woman."
Kael looked around, as if searching for me in the dark.
"Where is she? On crane #3? Or the roof of warehouse #2? I taught you never to bring weaknesses onto the battlefield."
I held my breath, finger resting lightly on the trigger.
"I have a lock," I whispered. "Give me the order, and I'll end him."

Daniel stared straight at Kael. "She isn't a weakness, Kael. She’s the reason I’m no longer your puppet."
