Chapter 17 - Caleb's Redemption
Downstairs, the front door was violently kicked open, splintering the wood.
Two heavily armed mercenaries in tactical gear poured into the hallway.
Caleb did not hesitate. He fired the shotgun, catching the first mercenary directly in the chest, throwing the massive man backward out into the rain.
The second mercenary raised his rifle, but Caleb dropped to the floor, rolling behind the heavy wooden sofa as bullets shredded the drywall above his head.
"I am not a victim anymore!"
Caleb roared in the darkness.

He pushed off the floor, launching himself over the sofa and driving his hunting knife deep into the exposed gap in the mercenary's tactical vest.
The man collapsed heavily. Caleb stood over him, breathing heavily, the ghosts of his captivity permanently exorcised through the sheer, violent defense of his family.
