Chapter 10 - The Network Awakens

Daniel arrived in less than forty minutes, having broken every speed limit on the coastal highway.
He didn't greet us. He walked straight to the kitchen island, staring down at the black orchid with a gaze so lethal it could have frozen the ocean.
"She is in South America,"
I whispered, my hands shaking.
"That was the intel you gave me. You said Claire fled the continent."
"She did,"
Daniel replied, pulling a pair of latex gloves from his jacket pocket and carefully inspecting the box.
"But this orchid is fresh. It hasn't been in transit for more than twelve hours. The postmark is local."
"She's back,"
Caleb said, grabbing a heavy iron wrench from his toolbox.
"Claire didn't send this,"
Daniel corrected him, holding up the box to examine the shipping label.
"Claire is a coward who hides behind mercenaries. This is a psychological tactic. Someone is operating locally on her behalf. They are trying to flush us out."
"What do we do?"
I asked, looking toward the nursery where Aaron was sleeping.
"We do not run,"
May you like
Daniel stated, pulling out his encrypted satellite phone.
"We hunt."
