Chapter 58 - High-Stakes Battle
I had to stay low on the crane’s steel grid. Bullets tore through the structure near me. I couldn't rise to help Daniel.
"Stay put! I’m coming up!" Daniel replied.
On the ground, Daniel moved like a ghost. When a gunman got close, Daniel used his knife, slicing a clean path through the man’s throat and grabbing his rifle to return fire. By the time he reached the stairs leading to Kael’s balcony, only two gunmen remained.
Kael was no longer on the balcony.
Suddenly, a massive explosion rocked the base of my crane. The entire structure shuddered violently.
"He’s bringing down the crane!" Daniel yelled in panic.
Kael had rigged explosives at the base. He knew he couldn't hit me in the dark, so he decided to destroy my vantage point entirely.

"Jump! Grab onto the roof of the warehouse!" Daniel screamed.
The crane began to topple with the terrifying sound of rending metal. I had no choice; I leaped into the air, aiming for the corrugated roof of the adjacent warehouse.
