Chapter 14 - The Storm Approaches

Two days later, the weather completely broke.
A massive, violent coastal storm rolled in from the ocean. The sky turned a bruised, terrifying shade of purple, and the wind began to howl relentlessly against the wooden siding of the house.
The torrential rain severely limited visibility to less than twenty feet.
"The power lines will go down within the hour,"
Caleb predicted, looking out the reinforced window.
"That is exactly what they are waiting for,"
Daniel agreed, checking the magazine of his sidearm with a sharp, metallic clack.

At exactly 9:00 PM, the lights in the house violently flickered and died, plunging us into absolute darkness.
