Chapter 9 - The Ring Discarded

Camila did not answer Don Arturo. She raised her right hand and took hold of the incredibly expensive, flawless diamond ring resting on her left ring finger.
With a slow, deliberate motion, she slid it off.
"Today, I finally understand everything,"
Camila announced, dropping the heavy diamond ring directly onto the wet marble counter. It landed with a sharp, hollow clink.
Valeria burst into a loud, screeching fit of laughter.
"Oh, come on!"
Valeria mocked mercilessly.
"You've been married to my brother for exactly forty-eight hours and you're already trying to act important? Who are you trying to scare by taking off your ring? Do you think you're a queen?"
Furious at Camila’s blatant refusal to submit, Rodrigo stepped forward, grabbing her wrist tightly, his fingernails digging painfully into her skin.
"You are going to apologize to my sister right now,"
May you like
Rodrigo growled directly into her face.
"And then you are going to call your pathetic consulting firm and tell them you are quitting immediately. We do not harbor arrogant women here who abandon their homes to play pretend-CEO!"
