Chapter 1 - The Perfect Charade

The luxurious mansion in Valle de Bravo glowed brilliantly under the warm, amber light. The wedding of Rodrigo Santillán and Camila Rivas was heavily praised by the media as the most flawless union of the year. The guest list was a parade of powerful businessmen, politicians, and high society elites.

In the eyes of the public, Camila was simply a beautiful, successful consultant who had luckily caught the eye of the heir to the prestigious Santillán dynasty. She wore an exquisite silk wedding gown, offering polite, measured smiles to everyone she met.

Rodrigo walked her through the banquet tables, his arm wrapped around her waist, flashing the charming, arrogant smile of a man born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

"Everyone, raise your glasses,"

Rodrigo announced smoothly over the microphone, his eyes glittering with self-satisfaction.

"To Camila, the final, perfect puzzle piece of the Santillán family!"

A roaring round of applause echoed through the estate. Doña Elvira, Rodrigo’s mother, dressed in a heavy, jewel-encrusted evening gown, smiled condescendingly every time someone congratulated her on acquiring such an obedient daughter-in-law.

"She is very docile,"

Doña Elvira whispered to the mayor's wife.

"A sensible girl who understands her place."

Camila simply smiled back—a calm, impenetrable smile that completely concealed the deep, calculating thoughts behind her dark eyes. She had willingly accepted the role of the quiet, submissive wife, turning off her phone, putting her massive workload on hold, and stepping into the "traditions" of this family for one specific reason: she wanted to see exactly who they truly were when the velvet curtains finally fell.
