Chapter 29 - The Final Eviction

Camila reached into her black coat and withdrew a crisp, white envelope. She tossed it casually onto the cheap plastic coffee table.

"I didn't take your house, Elvira," Camila said, her voice dropping into a lethal, quiet register. "You were living in mine."

Elvira frowned, her eyes darting to the envelope. "What lies are these?"

"The deed to the primary estate. Forged by Arturo. My parents were the rightful owners before he orchestrated their death."

Elvira froze. The remaining breath seemed to completely leave her lungs. Her eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated horror as she realized the implications. If the original estate belonged to Camila, then every single business investment, every diamond, every cent generated from that property was legally stolen.

"The tiny pension you are living on right now," Camila continued, taking a slow, predatory step forward. "The money you used to rent this miserable apartment. It is the last remaining fruit of a poisoned tree."

"No... please," Elvira stuttered, stepping backward until she hit the wall.

"My lawyers filed the injunction this morning," Camila stated, her facial expression cold and impenetrable. "You have exactly twenty-four hours to vacate this apartment. You are entirely, permanently bankrupt."
