Chapter 30 - The Broken Matriarch

Elvira collapsed onto the stained fabric of her cheap sofa. She did not scream. The reality of her absolute destitution crushed the fight out of her instantly. She looked up at Camila, tears of genuine, pathetic despair pooling in her eyes.

"Where will I go?" Elvira whispered, her voice cracking. "I have no one. I have nothing."

Camila looked down at the woman who had tormented her for a decade. She remembered the burning pain of the spilled coffee. She remembered the psychological torture. The cinematic realism of Camila’s reaction was rooted in her complete lack of empathy.
