Chapter 16 - The Glass Courtroom in Santa Fe

Forty-eight hours later. The financial district of Santa Fe in Mexico City.

Inside a massive, soundproof glass boardroom, the air conditioning kept the temperature as cold as a meat locker. This was the exact room where Don Arturo and Rodrigo used to boast arrogantly about their delusional business conquests.

Today, the Santillán family walked in completely broken.

Rodrigo, out on temporary bail, wore a wrinkled white shirt, trying to hide his panic and dark circles behind expensive sunglasses. Doña Elvira was dripping in every diamond she owned, desperately using the jewelry as a final, pathetic shield for her dignity. Valeria walked with her head bowed; after posting defamatory lies about Camila online, Patricia had immediately served her with a massive defamation lawsuit.

Don Arturo forced a weak, trembling smile, raising his hand to greet the board members, but not a single executive would even look him in the eye.

Sitting at the absolute seat of power, at the head of the long oval table, was Camila Rivas. She wore no makeup, the dark, ugly bruise on her cheek clearly visible to everyone in the room. She did not smile, nor did she look angry. She radiated absolute, terrifying authority.
