The morning sun reflected off the pristine white plate sitting on Camila’s kitchen counter. The coastal breeze of Nayarit carried the scent of salt and blooming jasmine through the open windows. For months, this silence had been her sanctuary. She took a slow sip of her coffee, her eyes tracing the gentle rolling of the deep blue waves.

The crunch of heavy tires on the gravel driveway echoed through the small house. Camila’s natural breathing paused for a microscopic second. Her dark eyes shifted slowly toward the front window. A sleek, black sedan with tinted windows had parked outside her gate. It was entirely out of place in this sleepy coastal town.

Her facial expression remained a mask of profound, chilling calm, but the subtle clenching of her jaw revealed the lingering instincts of a survivor. The past, it seemed, was not entirely buried.
