Chapter 12 - The Useless Cards

Inside the opulent living room, the atmosphere was rapidly descending into chaos.

Valeria was lounging on the sofa, aggressively tapping her phone screen, trying to purchase a limited-edition designer handbag to relieve her stress. She scowled, tapping the screen harder.

"What the hell is wrong with this stupid app?"

Valeria whined.

She stood up, stomping over to her mother with a furious expression.

"Mom, my black card was just declined! All three of them are showing an error!"

Doña Elvira frowned deeply, pulling out her own VIP corporate credit card, and immediately dialed the concierge hotline. A few seconds later, the heavily powdered face of the matriarch turned a sickly shade of pale.

"Frozen? What do you mean it's frozen? Who gave you the authority to lock the accounts of a Santillán?"

Doña Elvira shrieked into the phone.

Seeing his wife's panic, Don Arturo pulled out his phone and dialed the family's personal bank manager. He called three times. On the third attempt, the manager finally answered.

"Mr. Arturo,"

The bank manager's voice was freezing cold and entirely distant.

Don Arturo began to shake violently, dropping his expensive smartphone onto the priceless Persian rug.
