Chapter 39 - The Weight Lifted
Lupita stepped out onto the deck, carrying two toasted pieces of bread on a platter. She sat down in the chair next to Camila, sighing happily as she looked out at the waves.
"The news broke this morning," Lupita said softly, breaking the peaceful silence. "Doña Elvira was removed from her apartment by the federal marshals. Rodrigo was transferred to solitary confinement after a violent outburst in the yard. It's completely over, Camila."

Camila took a slow sip of her coffee. She did not offer a vindictive smile. The cinematic realism of her reaction was pure, unfiltered relief. The heavy, suffocating weight of fear that she had carried since she was a little girl had evaporated into the coastal wind.
"It is over," Camila agreed, her voice a low, comforting whisper.
