Chapter 11 - Lupita's Confession

Seeing Camila holding her phone, Doña Elvira scowled in deep irritation.
"Lupita!"
Doña Elvira barked.
"Bring her a mop. Let's see if manual labor cures her of her delusions."
But Camila had already moved swiftly, gently taking Lupita’s trembling hand. Ignoring her mother-in-law entirely, Camila pulled the terrified housekeeper out into the hallway, away from the vicious gaze of the Santillán family.
"Do not be afraid,"
Camila whispered, looking directly into Lupita’s tear-filled eyes.
"Tell me the truth, Lupita. I am not the first person he has hit, am I?"
Lupita shivered violently, looking nervously over her shoulder before nodding with a heavy, agonizing sob.
"Yes, ma'am..."
Lupita whispered brokenly.
"Before you, there was a girl named Jimena from Querétaro. She had to flee this mansion in the middle of the night with a broken wrist. Don Arturo forced her to sign a non-disclosure agreement in exchange for hush money."

Lupita also recounted the horrific story of a restaurant waiter whom Rodrigo had beaten brutally simply for spilling a glass of wine.
With Lupita’s consent, Camila activated the voice recorder on her phone, securing the entire testimony. She then turned the camera on herself, taking a high-resolution photo of the swelling, bleeding bruise on her cheek, and forwarded the entire file directly to Patricia.
