Chapter 8 - The Gaze Beneath the Lens

The spot Camila was staring at housed a microscopic device. A tiny, blinking red LED light pulsed silently. It was a high-definition security camera.

Doña Elvira caught the direction of her gaze and let out a dry, contemptuous laugh.

"Don't get too excited, little girl,"

Doña Elvira said, sipping her tea with arrogant superiority.

"Those cameras belong to this house. No one is ever going to watch them, and even if they did, we would wipe the footage before you could even blink."

Camila slowly turned her face back, looking directly into the eyes of her arrogant mother-in-law. A very faint, terrifyingly cold smile ghosted across her bruised lips.

"No,"

Camila stated, her voice even, completely steady, and chillingly absolute.

"They do not belong to you."

Don Arturo frowned deeply, taking an aggressive step forward.

"What the hell are you talking about?"
