Chapter 3 - The Fateful Morning

The morning of their second day as a married couple, bright sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the massive, marble-clad kitchen. A false sense of absolute peace blanketed the house.
Camila wore a simple, elegant linen dress, her dark hair pulled back into a neat ponytail. She had just finished a plate of spicy chilaquiles prepared by the estate's housekeeper, Lupita.
Valeria, Rodrigo’s younger sister, strolled into the kitchen.
She wore an expensive silk robe, her nails painted a sharp crimson, her eyes glued to her phone with an expression of profound boredom and irritation. She casually tossed her half-eaten plate of scrambled eggs onto the kitchen island, right next to where Camila was sitting.
"Move out of the way,"
Valeria grumbled, not even bothering to look up at her sister-in-law.
"The smell of your food is making me nauseous."
Camila stood up smoothly, picking up her empty plate of chilaquiles, and turned to face her new sister-in-law.
"Valeria,"
Camila spoke softly, yet her voice was perfectly clear.

"Could you please do me a favor and wash this plate for me? I need to go get some water."
It was an entirely normal, polite request between family members, but it was the spark that ignited a terrifying, long-overdue explosion.
