The conference room of the law firm was located on the fiftieth floor, offering a panoramic view of the sprawling capital city. Camila sat at the head of a massive mahogany table. Beside her sat Lupita, offering quiet, unbreakable support.
Across the table sat a panel of federal judges and independent auditors, including Mateo Vargas.
"Señorita Camila," the lead judge spoke, sliding a massive stack of legal documents across the polished wood. "Based on the forensic evidence, the original signatures, and the hidden ledger retrieved from the Santillán estate, the court recognizes you as the sole legal owner of the properties stolen in 1998."
Camila looked at the documents. The sheer volume of paper represented decades of stolen wealth, pain, and psychological torture.
