Chapter 2 - The Undercurrent of the Wedding Night

As the final guests departed the estate, the glamorous facade of the wedding rapidly dissolved, giving way to a suffocating, heavy atmosphere.

The moment the heavy oak doors of their master suite clicked shut, Rodrigo’s polished, gentlemanly smile completely vanished.

He ripped off his silk tie, tossing it carelessly onto the velvet sofa, groaning with deep, unfiltered irritation.

"Damn it, this tie was choking me. Those board directors are an absolute bore,"

Rodrigo complained.

Camila sat on the edge of the large, plush bed, quietly observing the man she had just married. He didn't ask if she was tired. He didn't offer a single gesture of affection or warmth.

"Camila, listen to me,"

Rodrigo stated, pouring himself a glass of expensive bourbon.

"Starting tomorrow, you don't need to worry about that useless consulting job of yours anymore."

Camila looked up slightly.

"What do you mean?"

"You are a Santillán now,"

He ordered, his tone leaving absolutely no room for negotiation.

"Your duty is to maintain the face of this family, attend my mother’s tea parties, and learn how to manage the servants. Your little firm is nothing compared to my family's conglomerate. Put it aside."

Camila did not argue. She obediently nodded, exhausted in her heavy, expensive wedding dress, silently waiting to see just how far this family's arrogance would stretch.
