Chapter 56 - The Checkmate

The lead guard raised his submachine gun, his finger tightening on the trigger, aiming directly for Olivia’s chest.
In a fraction of a second, the heavy steel door of the vault violently slammed shut, immediately followed by the deafening hiss of the room’s automated halon fire-suppression system engaging. A thick, blinding white chemical gas instantly flooded the confined space, plunging the vault into absolute chaos.
The guards coughed violently, their vision completely obscured. The lead guard fired a blind, frantic burst that shattered a glass server panel inches from Elias Blackwood’s head.
"Cease fire, you idiots!" Elias roared, dropping to the floor to avoid the toxic gas.
Through the blinding white smoke, a dark, imposing figure materialized like a phantom. It was Arthur. He was bruised, bleeding from a grazing wound on his shoulder, and completely covered in the soot of the Geneva explosion, but his eyes burned with lethal, uncompromising fury.
He moved with terrifying, fluid precision. He disarmed the first guard with a brutal strike to the wrist, using the man’s own momentum to throw him violently against the steel wall. The second guard swung his weapon, but Arthur ducked the barrel, delivering a devastating, localized strike to the man’s sternum that dropped him instantly to the floor, gasping for air.
"Arthur!" Olivia cried out, a profound, overwhelming wave of relief crashing over her.
"I told you I’d buy you the time," Arthur coughed, flashing a fierce, exhausted smile through the halon gas.
Elias Blackwood scrambled backward, his immaculate suit ruined, desperately searching for the emergency override switch to clear the gas. But Arthur stepped forward, planting his heavy combat boot squarely on Elias’s chest, pinning the billionaire to the cold floor of the vault.
"Aris! The payload!" Olivia shouted, rushing to the terminal.
Aris wiped the tears from her eyes, her fingers flying across the glowing keyboard. "Bypassing the final firewall... executing the broadcast override now!"
She slammed the enter key.
The pulsing blue lights of the master servers instantly flashed a brilliant, unforgiving crimson.
High above them, in the massive auditorium of the Grand Congress Center, thousands of international delegates, health officials, and global journalists were waiting for Elias Blackwood to take the stage. Suddenly, the massive presentation screens flickered. The Ouroboros corporate logo vanished, replaced by the stark, undeniable evidence of their crimes.

The internal memos detailing the suppression of cures, the financial routing numbers for global bribery, and the exact source code of the malware used to sabotage David’s AI were broadcast simultaneously to the auditorium, to every major news network covering the summit, and to the private inboxes of every global regulatory official.
The checkmate was absolute. Elias Blackwood was pinned to the floor, listening to the muffled, chaotic roar of absolute outrage erupting from the auditorium above. The empire of shadows had just been dragged violently into the light.
