Chapter 10 - The Paramedics Arrive

As Vanessa was dragged down the stairs, screaming obscenities and threatening to sue the entire police department, the front doors opened again.

A team of paramedics rushed in carrying heavy medical bags and a collapsible stretcher. They immediately took over from Detective Miller, kneeling beside Olivia and working with rapid, practiced efficiency. They carefully placed a neck brace on her, checking her spine and her vitals.

"Blood pressure is stable, but her heart rate is elevated," one of the paramedics announced. "We need to move her to the trauma center now for a full obstetric evaluation."

Officers stepped forward into the crowd of guests. One by one, they began collecting security footage from the mansion's internal cameras. They confiscated the cell phones of the guests who had been recording the argument. They seized documents, laptops, and financial records from the home office down the hall.

The guests watched in stunned, terrified silence. The grand mansion that had once symbolized untouchable wealth and absolute power had suddenly become an active, heavily guarded crime scene.

Paramedics carefully lifted Olivia onto the stretcher, securing her with straps.

Before they carried her outside into the flashing red and blue lights of the waiting ambulance, Olivia reached out and grabbed Detective Miller’s sleeve.

"My baby…" she pleaded, her eyes wide with lingering fear.

The detective smiled reassuringly, placing his hand gently over hers.

"You protected your child flawlessly, Olivia," Miller said softly. "You did exactly what you needed to do. Now, it's our turn. Let us protect you."

As she was wheeled out the door, Olivia looked back at the ruined ballroom one final time. The cage was finally broken.
