Chapter 25 - The Safehouse

Two hours later, Olivia and David were sitting in the back of a heavily armored federal transport vehicle, speeding away from the city.
Captain Miller sat across from them, nursing a bleeding cut above his eyebrow and a bruised jaw. His suit was ruined, but his eyes were filled with a fierce, protective determination.
"They knew exactly what they were doing," Miller said, applying a sterile gauze pad to his forehead. "They knew the layout of your penthouse. They knew about the panic room. Someone on the inside of the security firm leaked the blueprints to Elias Thorne."
"We can't trust anyone," Olivia whispered, holding her sleeping son. "If Thorne can breach my home with a paramilitary squad, where can we possibly go?"
"We go completely off the grid," Miller replied, pulling a burner phone from his tactical vest. "No digital footprint. No credit cards. No foundation emails. We are taking you to a black-site safehouse in the Adirondack Mountains. It doesn't exist on any government registry."
The drive took five hours. They arrived at a secluded, heavily wooded compound just as the sun began to rise. The safehouse was a rustic, unassuming cabin on the outside, but the interior was a fortress of reinforced steel, bulletproof glass, and independent satellite communications.
A small team of highly vetted, loyal officers from Miller’s inner circle was already waiting for them.
Olivia walked into the cabin, exhausted and terrified, but she refused to let the despair consume her. She laid David down in a secure bedroom and walked back out to the main living area where Miller was spreading tactical maps across a wooden table.
"Hiding isn't going to solve this, Arthur," Olivia said, her voice hard. "Vanessa tried to starve me out, and I fought back. Thorne just tried to murder my son. I am not going to spend the rest of my life looking over my shoulder."

"You want to go on the offensive against a shadow billionaire?" Miller asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I took down the Harrington empire," Olivia stated coldly. "I can take down Elias Thorne. But I need to know where his money is."
