Chapter 30 - The Digital Strike

Back in the secure mobile command center, Olivia immediately contacted Max on the encrypted channel.
"We have his physical location," Olivia told the hacker. "The Obsidian Hotel penthouse. Can you access their internal network?"
"I’m already in their security mainframe," Max smirked, the neon-blue light reflecting off her glasses. "But I have better news. I cracked Thorne’s offshore Cayman accounts. The man’s cybersecurity was good, but he got arrogant. He left a backdoor open on a secondary server."
"Have you frozen the funds?" Miller asked, leaning over Olivia's shoulder.
"I did better than freeze them," Max laughed wickedly. "I initiated a cascading transfer protocol. Right now, Thorne’s liquid capital is being drained at a rate of ten million dollars a minute. The money is bouncing through fifty different international charities. It’s completely untraceable and unrecoverable."
Olivia looked at the clock. It was 8:00 AM. Thorne’s ultimatum expired in exactly one hour.
"He’s going to notice the drain any second," Miller warned. "When he realizes his empire is evaporating, he will order the strike teams to attack the community centers."
"Then we have to make sure he can't make that call," Olivia said, her resolve hardening into pure steel. "Max, I need you to cut all communication lines in the Obsidian Hotel. Shut down their cell towers, their Wi-Fi, and their hardlines. Plunge that penthouse into a total digital blackout."
"Consider it done," Max typed furiously. "He is completely isolated. But Olivia, you know a blackout won't stop his personal security detail. The man is surrounded by mercenaries."
"I don't care about his mercenaries," Olivia said, grabbing a bulletproof vest from the tactical gear bag in the back of the van. She strapped it firmly over her chest.

Miller looked at her in shock. "What are you doing? You are not going in there. That is a tactical operation."
"He came for my son, Arthur," Olivia said, looking the seasoned police captain dead in the eye. "I am not going to sit in a van while he hides in his ivory tower. We finish this together."
