Chapter 43 - A Shadow in Geneva

The immediate counter-offensive required Olivia to step out of the fortified safety of the foundation headquarters and directly onto the global stage. If Elias Blackwood was using the World Health Organization’s regulatory committees to block the AI, Olivia had to confront the bureaucracy at its source. Within forty-eight hours, she and Arthur were aboard a private jet descending through the gray, overcast skies of Geneva, Switzerland.
"The emergency injunction hearing is scheduled for tomorrow morning," Arthur briefed her, handing over a thick stack of legal briefs as they rode in the back of an armored sedan toward their hotel. "Blackwood’s lobbyists have completely saturated the committee. They are arguing that the AI’s machine learning algorithms independently access and store patient genomic data without consent, violating international human rights laws."
"It’s a blatant, mathematically provable lie," Olivia countered, her eyes scanning the fabricated technical reports. "The AI operates on a closed-loop encryption. It diagnoses the anomaly and instantly wipes the patient data to protect their identity. Blackwood knows this. He just needs to create enough doubt to keep the software tied up in litigation for a decade while people continue to die."
They arrived at the majestic, historic hotel overlooking Lake Geneva. Despite the opulent surroundings, the atmosphere was incredibly tense. Olivia knew that Ouroboros had eyes everywhere. She refused to let David travel with them, leaving him back at the heavily guarded headquarters under the protection of a private, elite tactical team.
As they settled into the sprawling penthouse suite, the secure phone on the mahogany desk began to ring. It wasn't their internal network; it was an external, highly encrypted line.
Olivia exchanged a wary glance with Arthur, who immediately engaged a localized frequency jammer to prevent any eavesdropping before nodding for her to answer.
"Olivia Miller," she said, her voice steady and completely devoid of fear.
"Ms. Miller. I must admit, I am profoundly impressed by how quickly you traced the injunction back to my desk," a smooth, cultured, and terrifyingly calm voice echoed through the speaker. "Most people spend years chasing the shadows. You found the source in three hours."

"Elias Blackwood," Olivia stated, her grip tightening on the receiver. "I didn't come to Geneva to play corporate espionage games. I came to expose your fraud to the entire global committee."
"You came to Geneva because I allowed you to," Elias chuckled softly, a sound entirely devoid of warmth or humanity. "You believe you are fighting a legal battle, Olivia. But you are fighting a war of absolute attrition. And tomorrow, I am going to demonstrate exactly what happens when you threaten the foundation of the global pharmaceutical economy." The line went dead.
