Chapter 35 - The Digital Strike

Olivia returned to the foundation headquarters, sprinting into the server room where Max was waiting frantically. The countdown clock on the massive monitor showed only three hours remaining before Thorne’s failsafe unleashed the fabricated documents that would ruin everything.
"Did you get it?" Max demanded, her fingers hovering over the keyboard.
"Vanessa said it was a phrase her late husband used to say," Olivia relayed, her mind racing. "She gave me three words: 'Integrity commands respect.'"
Max quickly typed the phrase into the decryption terminal. The screen flashed red. ACCESS DENIED.
"It didn't work!" Max shouted. "We have two attempts left before the system permanently locks us out and triggers the broadcast early!"
"She lied to me," Olivia whispered, a profound sense of betrayal washing over her. Vanessa had used her final moment of power to twist the knife.
"Think, Olivia," Miller urged, pacing behind her. "What else did her husband say? You knew David. You knew his father."
Olivia closed her eyes, blocking out the panic in the room. She thought back to the few conversations she had shared with the late patriarch of the Harrington family. He was a ruthless businessman, but he had one core belief that Vanessa had always mocked.
"Wait," Olivia opened her eyes, a sudden realization hitting her. "Vanessa is a narcissist. She wouldn't use a phrase her husband loved. She would use a phrase that proved she was smarter than him."
"What is it?" Max asked, hands hovering over the keys.
"Try this," Olivia said confidently. "'Power commands fear.'"
Max typed the words rapidly and hit enter. The room held its collective breath.
The screen flashed green. DECRYPTION SUCCESSFUL. OVERRIDE PROTOCOL INITIATED.

"We're in!" Max cheered, aggressively deleting the queued broadcast files and dismantling the entire server architecture from the inside out. "The failsafe is completely neutralized. Thorne’s dead man's switch is officially dead."
Olivia let out a massive sigh of relief, collapsing into a nearby chair. The final ghost of the Harrington empire had been successfully exorcised.
