Chapter 51 - The Ambush in the Dark

Arthur shielded his eyes against the blinding light.
The doors of the SUVs opened simultaneously. A dozen heavily armed private security contractors stepped out, forming an impenetrable perimeter.
Evangeline stepped out of the center vehicle.
She walked slowly toward the panicked men, her high heels echoing sharply against the concrete.
"Did you really think,"
Evangeline asked, her voice echoing powerfully in the quiet garage,

"that I would let you near the judge overseeing my son's case without having him under twenty-four-hour surveillance?"
Arthur’s face drained of all color. He looked at the security team, noticing the high-definition cameras mounted on their tactical vests.
