The peace lasted for three incredibly prosperous years.
Evangeline expanded Crawford Global Enterprises into a philanthropic juggernaut, completely rewriting the rules of corporate responsibility. The foundation for orphaned children was thriving, saving thousands of lives across the country.
But one rainy Tuesday morning, the perfect rhythm of the empire was violently disrupted.
Evangeline was sitting at the massive obsidian desk in her boardroom when David, her chief of security, burst through the doors. He did not knock. His face was carved from pure, terrified tension.
"We have a massive, aggressive breach in the mainframe,"
David reported, his voice tight.
"The syndicate?"
Evangeline demanded, instantly rising from her leather chair, her protective instincts flaring into high alert.
"No,"
David answered, sliding a highly encrypted tablet across the polished desk.
"This isn't an Eastern European cyber-attack. This is a domestic, incredibly sophisticated financial maneuver. Someone is aggressively attempting to forcefully buy the debt of our primary international charity partners."
Evangeline stared at the flashing red data streams on the screen.
