One year later, the Crawford empire had expanded beyond anything the corporate world had ever seen.
Evangeline sat in the plush, sunlit nursery of the penthouse.
Little Leo was now two years old. He was a bright, fiercely energetic, and incredibly happy toddler. He knew absolutely nothing of the gunfire, the betrayal, or the cold hotel lobby where his mother had nearly been discarded.
He only knew a world of absolute safety, luxury, and boundless, unconditional love.
"Look, Mommy! Block!"
Leo giggled, proudly holding up a bright red wooden block.
