Chapter 50 - The Desperate Bribe
As his financial empire began to violently collapse around him, Arthur Sterling panicked.
He realized he could not defeat Evangeline in the boardroom, so he attempted to rely on his corrupt political connections.
Late on a Thursday night, Arthur met secretly with the federal judge presiding over the custody case in the dark, empty parking garage of a downtown restaurant.
"I need you to grant the emergency custody order tomorrow morning,"
Arthur demanded, handing the judge a heavy briefcase filled with unmarked cash.
"If you do this, my debt won't matter. I will have the leverage I need to force her to back down."
The judge looked nervously around the dark garage.
"This is incredibly dangerous, Arthur,"
The judge whispered.
"Just take the money and sign the order!"
