Chapter 25 - The Supermax Cell

The Federal Supermax Penitentiary was a bleak, miserable fortress of concrete and razor wire.
Evangeline sat in the sterile, heavily guarded visitation booth, separated from the inmate by a thick pane of bulletproof glass. She wore a pristine, tailored white coat, looking entirely untouchable.
The heavy steel door on the other side buzzed open.
Richard Sterling was dragged into the booth by two armed guards. He was a pathetic, broken shell of a man. His orange jumpsuit hung loosely on his emaciated frame, and his hair had fallen out in jagged patches.
He picked up the plastic telephone receiver, his hands shaking violently.

Richard wept, tears of desperate, pathetic hope spilling down his hollow cheeks.
