Chapter 34 - The Mother's Pride

Evangeline stepped back into the glowing, opulent ballroom of the gala exactly twenty minutes after she had left.
Eleanor was waiting for her near the grand staircase, holding a fresh glass of champagne.
"Is it done?"
Eleanor asked softly, her eyes searching her daughter's face.
"It is entirely finished, Mom,"
Evangeline smiled genuinely, taking the glass.
"The ghosts are gone."
Eleanor reached out, gently touching the silver bracelet on Evangeline’s wrist.
