Chapter 31 - The Trap Sprung

The harsh, bright fluorescent lights of the vault suddenly snapped on, blinding the syndicate team.
Standing on a raised steel catwalk above the vault floor, completely out of the mercenaries' reach, was Evangeline Crawford.
She looked down at the trapped assassins, her crimson silk gown flowing brilliantly against the cold steel railing.
"You must be Kaelen,"
Evangeline announced, her voice echoing powerfully through the concrete chamber over a high-definition PA system.
Kaelen raised his submachine gun, aiming directly at her.
"You arrogant little girl,"
Kaelen sneered, his eyes filled with violent malice.
"You locked yourself in here with us."
"I am behind four inches of bulletproof ballistic glass, Kaelen,"
May you like
Evangeline smiled, tapping the completely invisible, highly reinforced glass barrier separating the catwalk from the vault below.
Kaelen fired a rapid burst of bullets. The rounds sparked and flattened harmlessly against the invisible barrier, not even leaving a scratch.
