Evangeline descended the grand staircase of the museum, the absolute center of attention.
She smiled gracefully, shaking hands with senators, mayors, and wealthy investors. She played the role of the flawless, philanthropic billionaire to absolute perfection.
But her eyes were constantly scanning the perimeter.
Hidden discreetly in her ear was a microscopic comms unit.
"Perimeter is holding, Madam,"
David’s voice crackled softly in her ear.
